“O objetivo da obra foi “camuflar” a onça-pintada num contexto urbano, utilizando para isso os lambes e a colagem, tão presentes em Nova Iorque. Fotografar os lambes (especialmente os rasgados) é algo que eu faço com muita frequência há muitos anos.
De certa forma, utilizar a colagem dos lambes rasgados como camuflagem da escultura também possui um viés de protesto a uma cultura de consumismo. Toda semana tem coisa nova, campanhas publicitárias, anúncios de show, e todos tipos de produtos ou serviços a venda, nesta que é a cidade mais capitalista do mundo.
A publicidade excessiva possui enorme impacto ecológico, afetando a natureza e o futuro de modo geral. Para a Jaguar Parade, eu vi o Jaguar com uma camuflagem urbana bem Novaiorquina, onde sua pele passou a ser os posters rasgados, agora ele está em seu habitat natural, New York City.”
“The goal of the piece was to “camouflage” the jaguar in an urban context, using street posters and collage, both so present in New York. Photographing the street posters (especially the ripped ones) is something I've been doing very often for many years.
In a way, using the collage of torn street posters as camouflage for the sculpture also has a protest connotation against a culture of consumerism. Every week there is something new, advertising campaigns, show ads, and all kinds of products or services for sale, in what is the most capitalist city in the world.
Excessive advertising has a huge ecological impact, affecting nature and the future in general. For Jaguar Parade, I pictured the Jaguar in a very New York urban camouflage, where its skin became the torn posters, now it is in its natural habitat, New York City.
Alex 's Bio': Nascido e criado em São Paulo, Alex Korolkovas se considera primariamente um artista e depois um fotógrafo, então ele gosta de ter isso em mente quando fotografa. Estudante de Publicidade e Marketing em sua cidade-natal, aprendeu o básico desse universo e se muda para Los Angeles nos anos 90 para ganhar experiência com as indústrias da arte, moda e impressão, antes de tomar confiança para se tornar um fotógrafo profissional em tempo integral.
Desde então, o artista já fotografou para revistas de moda do mundo todo, fotografando atletas e celebridades do Brasil, Estados Unidos e Ásia. O artista também é aficionado por colagem e fotografia de lambes, estéticas sempre muito presentes em seu trabalho.
Alex 's Bio': Born and raised in São Paulo, Alex Korolkovas considers himself primarily an artist and a photographer second, so he likes to keep that in mind when photographing. Graduated in Advertising and Marketing in his hometown, he learned the basics of this universe and moved to Los Angeles in the 1990s to gain experience in art, fashion and print industries, before having the confidence to become a full-time professional photographer.
Since then, the artist has been clicking for fashion magazines around the world, photographing athletes and celebrities from Brazil, United States and Asia. The artist is also passionate about collage and street posters' photography, aesthetics that are always very present in his work.
